Assurance of Salvation

Do you doubt your salvation? Do you know where you will spend eternity? You can know for sure! If you have doubts read through these passages of Scripture and seek out your Pastor or trusted friend to help you walk through this outline and to get the assurance you are needing.

God’s Purpose

• His word tells us we can know for sure (I John 5:12-13).

• He wants us to have joy (John 15:10-11).

Our Need

Doubts are not uncommon.

• Assurance might not have been explained to you.

• You may have neglected prayer, Bible study, fellowship with other Christians, church attendance.

• You may have allowed sin to get a hold in you life.

• You may have inadequate or erroneous understanding of God and the life He has for you.

• You may be experiencing problems that are cause you to doubt.

God’s Provision

• God has promised to complete His work in you (Phil 1:6).

• Jesus promised us eternal life (John 5:24).

• Jesus said no one can take us out of his hand (John 10:28; I Peter 1:5).

• The Holy Spirit tells us we are His (Rom. 8:16).

Our Response

We receive God’s assurance by faith. We must not trust feelings we must trust God and His promises.

• Confess all known sin (I John 1:9)

• Commit yourself to His control (Rom. 10:9-10).

• Claim God’s salvation by faith (II Tim. 1:12)

• Obey God’s commands (John 14:21; 15:10).

My Commitment

Pray a prayer like this…

“Father, I place my complete faith in you: I confess to you any sin (name them); I commit myself to the Lordship of Jesus (control); I claim your promise of assurance; and I will live in obedience to your commands. Thank you for the assurance of salvation. Amen”

            A. John 1:12-13
